HONOR GUARD

Military Honor Guard
At American Legion Post 103, we are deeply committed to honoring the service and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans, and one of the most visible ways we uphold this mission is through our Military Honor Guard. The Post 103 Honor Guard is composed of dedicated volunteers — both veterans and community members — who give their time and energy to ensure that those who have served are remembered with dignity and respect. Whether providing full military honors at a veteran’s funeral, presenting the colors at civic and patriotic events, or supporting ceremonies throughout our community, the Honor Guard carries out each duty with precision and solemnity.
Their responsibilities include the presentation and proper care of the American flag, the traditional three-volley rifle salute, and the sounding of Taps — all time-honored military traditions that symbolize respect for service, sacrifice, and country. Each ceremony is performed with deep reverence, serving as both a tribute to the individual veteran and a reminder of the bond shared among all who value and honor military service.
Beyond funerals and memorials, the Post 103 Honor Guard participates in parades, school events, veteran recognition programs, and other community gatherings where patriotism and remembrance are called for. Their presence ensures that the legacy of military service remains visible and that future generations understand the importance of honoring those who wore the uniform.
The Honor Guard reflects the very heart of the American Legion’s mission — to serve veterans, their families, and our communities — and Post 103 is proud to continue this tradition of respect, gratitude, and remembrance.
Requesting Services or Volunteering
Families of veterans may request the Post 103 Military Honor Guard by contacting our Legion Post directly. We work closely with funeral homes, cemeteries, and families to ensure each service is carried out with the proper honors and traditions. If you are interested in serving your community and honoring those who served, we welcome both veterans and non-veterans to consider joining our Honor Guard team. Volunteering is a meaningful way to give back, to stand in solidarity with families of servicemembers, and to provide lasting comfort to those who have lost a loved one.
